Close Encounters is a popular ice breaker and energiser activity that can be used to get people mixing and learning about each other.

As participants arrive they are given a 'Close Encounters' card - on one side is a short briefing and on the other two two unique questions about 'success'.

Armed with their cards, each person finds a partner and begins to understand and learn about the successes in their life.

It's opening night for your latest restaurant and the Chef has walked out following a row with the waiters!

In a few hours time your first guests will be arriving to sample your culinary delights so it's down to you to work together to piece together the recipes for the special launch night.

Two teams (apart from each other) receive information about an earthquake via two channels; a CD supplying different, regular updates to each team (two audio CD players required) and intercoms constantly buzzing between the teams.

Accurate communication is vital. As well teams need to be organised, focused on the objective and keep up with an ever-changing situation. They will consider all the data, filter out irrelevant and unreliable stories and at the end present a clear, concise, accurate report.
